This site has been developed by Education Support Council (http://www.esckolkata.com), a registered trust working for educational and economic upliftment of the underprivileged and marginalized section of the society with focus on minorities. It has been providing free coaching and counseling to more than 500 students of class VII and above annually. The achievement of ESC has been quite satisfactory since its inception.

As a further endeavor ESC has developed this website is for providing information and guidance to the youth who are in need of important information so that they can develop and prosper in their life. A detail of the scheme is given below.

WEST BENGAL MINORITIES CENTRAL INFORMATION CENTRE
BACKGROUND:
It is observed that though many schemes and opportunities are available these days for the welfare and development of the people, but the weaker and the backward section of the society is generally unable to take advantage of the benefits as they are unaware of the facilities available to them. This scheme aims to provide information and reply to the queries relating to development opportunities available to its target group through a single window and by a convenient means.
OBJECTIVES:
The objectives of the scheme are to collect information and disseminate them among the organizations and individuals. The information will generally be collected on the following topics.
  A) Education: -
  • For the benefit of students of class X and above regarding professional /technical /job oriented courses available with the name of the Institution, duration of the course, time of admission, course fee etc.
  • ii) Education Matters relating to Girls.
  B) Scholarship: -

Pre - Matric & Post Metric scholarships - provided by

  • Government/Government agencies.
  • Minority Trusts /organizations.
  • NGOS.
  • Corporate Sectors
  C) Career & Job opportunities: -
Job opportunities available to educated youths having Technical, vocational or General qualifications Under Government Sector /Private Sector.
  D) Self Employment Opportunities: -
  • Under Government programme.
  • Others.
IMPLEMENTING AGENCIES AND ELIGIBILITY:

The scheme will be implemented through the following agencies:

  • Educational Support Council, Kolkata – It will act as a nodal agency responsible for co-ordination and maintenance of the site.
  • NGOs or CBOs, Sports Club, Organizations of youth and Individuals working generally for the welfare of minorities.

The implementing agencies need to have the following facilities:

  • Computer with Internet facility and printer.
  • Space to store some hard copies of information, books etc.
  • One pucca room having seating capacity at least for eight to ten (8 to 10) persons.
DETAILS OF THE PROCEDURES:
  • All necessary and related information are collected and loaded on the website, www.wbmcic.com for information of all.
  • Organizations interested to work as local information centers will are enlisted and be called LIC (local Information Centre).
  • Representatives of the enlisted LICs are trained to browse the site and extract relevant information through the site and the Internet.
  • The LICs will be able to collect reasonable fee from the information seeker as service charge for providing information or giving printed copy of the materials.
  • The name, address and activities of the organizations acting as LIC will be posted at the site of wbmcic for information of general public.
